Bascular Cuir in wood
Design by Cheickh Diallo
“I am only interested in design if it allows me to remake what already exists,” says Cheickh Diallo, whose impeccably
finished furniture and objects are designed to disrupt routine perceptions through their blend of ancient wisdom and modern sensuality. A magically creative risk-taker, educator, and manager, Diallo studied architecture and design in Paris before establishing his studio in the hills above his birthplace, Bamako. In a semi-organized chaos, a team of artisans works to create wildly chic household objects from materials like bottle caps, computer batteries, old tires, and more, redefining the notion of luxury. Diallo was part of the landmark exhibition Africa Remix, which was shown in London, Paris, Düsseldorf, Tokyo, and Johannesburg. He has exhibited at the Milan Furniture Fair and is regularly invited to design biennials around the world.
