Black 2019/2 is a one-of-a-kind artwork by Darcy Miro. This work explores the relationship between glass and metal. The designer pushes both materials to their limits, traveling between liquid and solid states. Process, chance and experience all contribute to the aesthetic of the finished piece. Metal bands hold and help define the glass structure, which is blown directly onto the metal. During this glassblowing process, shapes start to emerge.
The organic shapes and colorful transparencies of glass combine with hard metal elements, creating beautiful juxtapositions. The formal abstraction of glass contrasts with the more detailed and artificial qualities of metal. By working in the unexplored junction between mediums, Darcy Miro has mastered this inventive fusion. Every piece is the result of a tireless exploration of the natural properties of both metal and glass. In the end, never-seen-before vessels are born.
