Fresnel Light – 2 rings
In a playful reimagining of traditional lighting principals, Dirk has employed low-resolution 3D printing in the replication Augustin-Jean Fresnel’s eponymous, faceted lens. The newly dictated form sees layers of molten synthetic coils serve to refract and magnify light, to glittering effect.
The Fresnel Light – 2 rings consists of two halves, enclosing LED-modules. The hundreds of dimmable LED- lights produce over 50.000 hours of light and are easy to replace. Hanging on a steel wire, it resembles a glowing celestial body. Like the orbit of a planet, the Fresnel Light rotates around a center core, a metal ball, making the direction of the light easy to adjust and to aim where needed. Besides this tilting function, the ball has a mechanism to adjust the length and store the hanging wire. The Fresnel Light is available in three sizes: two, three or four rings.
