Ile Maurice low table in coral stone
Designed by Francesco Maria Messina
Ile Maurice low table is an homage to the Mauritian archipelago. In fact, its natural coral stone structure and tempered glass top recall the shapes of the island. The clear, wet-looking top and the rough texture of the coral stone create a strong but beautiful contrast. The glass top, which represents the ocean’s surface, appears to be floating.
The Rising Ocean collection aims to create awareness on this global issue. Several Mauritian islands are already experiencing severe disasters linked to coral barrier reef death, coastal erosion and more violent cyclones. Peaks above the table’s top represent higher mountains (Piton de la Riviere Noire in Mauritius), virtually the only place that will survive to rising ocean waters.
