“I see the work as a form of ‘cultural archeology’ curating specific objects that sit on the periphery of our attention and call out their sculptural potential, like a bale of cardboard, a crushed car, or a fallen tree. I stop at the mold making process where most projects start, inverting the silicone skin to reveal what is always there but not seen. Negotiating this space, between the cracks, creases, folds, and holes, I pull elements forward or push them back, similar to developing a photograph. Starting with the question, “ How do you make sculpture do photography? ” Like the negative of a photograph, Shadows are highlights and vise versa, the objects maintain a similarity to their original form but transform to have their own identity, something here but not here, like a ghost.”
