Dorothea Heritage (pairs made of painting-like portraits and abstract compsitions)
Hotel Dorothea is housed in the neo-Renaissance Weber building, with two types of rooms: the modern Contemporary, most of which are newly built and overlook the inner garden, and the more classic Heritage, which is hidden behind the original building’s façade and arched windows. The walls of the Heritage rooms are decorated with mural-like portraits of women by German masters, with a touch of humour smuggled into each one – for example, every picture that looks dated has an out-of-place modern twist.I have paired these portraits with photograms and abstract still lifes associated with László Moholy-Nagy – a connection or dialogue that can be colour, texture, form or even figurative.
