Woven coffee table

Milan Pekar

Woven is a collection of ceramic furniture and objects inspired by textile techniques such as weaving and knitting. The inspiration for me was the first prehistoric ceramics, which were created by packing clay into woven baskets and then firing them. Ceramics and textiles were probably some of the first complex crafts that people used. Ceramics have been preserved to us in large numbers, but early evidence of weaving has survived only as impressions in ceramic fragments. I use weaving and knitting not only as a decorative pattern but as the main supporting structure of the objects. The individual segments are not glued to each other but hold thanks to interweaving. My goal is an organic combination of ceramic and textile techniques
