Family Tree

Family Tree is an extraordinary sculpture by Benedetta Mori Ubaldini. She works with many materials, but is most known for her innovative wire work. Initially, each piece starts as flat rolled chicken wire. Then, the sculptor shapes the material by hand, twisting and joining pieces together to give a seamless appearance. Finally, an evocative, symbolic and poetic sculpture emerges, filling the space with new narratives.

“What I love is creating three dimensional pictures. The beauty of the wire is that there is no internal structure so the sculpture’s presence is almost absent, giving them a sense of wonder and magic. The magical power of transparency is capable of giving each piece the lightness of an apparition, a ghostlike quality, like a trace from memory” said Benedetta.
