Bìos is a work that exalts the bursting strength of life. This sculpture represents a womb, which transforms itself following not only the needs of the creature it houses but also those of its surroundings.
The womb, then, can be compared to the world, a world that holds within it an inexhaustible source of energy and vitality and that assimilates everything that comes from the outside. The earth opens up and shifts. Nature makes visible all its changes, from the most traumatic to the most beautiful. Similarly, the baby kicks, sobs, moves and gives input to the mother’s body, transforming and adapting it to its own needs.
Time and “landscape,” whether natural or human, are inextricably linked entities.
Decorum highlights the role and importance of Africa in the balance/stability and edification of the globalized world.
