Father and Son Chess set
A set consisting of two stools and a game table with an inlaid brass chessboard. For its creation, I used the trunk of a Lebanon cedar that, despite being uprooted by a summer storm last year, was perfectly healthy at the time of its fall. For this reason, I decided to preserve the trunk’s natural shape as much as possible, aiming to maintain the sense of strength and sturdiness I felt upon first seeing it. Each stool features a carved and sculpted step on one side, designed to serve as a footrest, allowing both adults and children to find the right height for comfortable seating. At the center of the installation, I placed the chess table. This game, where time slows down during a match, resonates with the nature of the Lebanon cedar, which takes years to reach its full size.
