Paravents N5

In the Paravents project Hella Jongerius focuses on “samplers”; embroidered tapestries in which the crafters have illustrated their skills and techniques since 1800. Paravents translate these motives in their needle punch tech­nique. Firstly, hollow needles are punched through two blankets, merging the fabrics. The designer approaches these options from the past with a present-day perspective to generate new meanings. The motives of Paravents refer to the Jongerius’ archive.
