Wild fibers bench
This functional and sculptural bench is the result of a meticulous weaving and styling of rattan lianas, the longest natural fiber in the world. Organic and durable, it comes from the tropical forests of Indonesia. Aurelie Hoegy lets herself be guided by their native curves and assembles them with 20,000 nails like a textile drapery. This dancing hair then undergoes a real haircut in collaboration with a hairstylist. By listening closely to this expressive material, the designer brings it to life in a powerful and animistic way. Everything becomes a dialogue between matter, choreography of lines, craftsmanship, tradition and culture. Her collections infuse these fibers with a contemporary vision of this artisanal heritage in order to keep it alive.
