I have always felt a deep connection to Thonet chairs. Their essential design and the remarkable wood-bending technique embody, to me, a perfect balance between aesthetics and craftsmanship. Over the years, I have collected original pieces found in flea markets across Europe, preserving them while waiting to understand their future. Many of these chairs, marked by time, neglect, and sometimes woodworm damage, carried structural fragility but also a powerful expressive presence. My intervention stems from the desire to transform fragility into renewed strength: I remove the irreparably damaged parts and assemble the remaining solid elements together, creating hybrid structures in which the healthy components support one another. The result is a series of small benches and unique seating pieces. Each form is unrepeatable, shaped by the original material. The Vienna straw, entirely handwoven, completes the work, restoring dignity and new life to objects that bear the marks of time
