Stool in Scrapwood

Piet Hein Eek

The Stool in Scrapwood is one of Piet Hein Eek’s quintessential pieces. Here, the designer’s signature vocabulary of wood collage morphs into a design of exceptional simplicity. After making a few minor adjustments, these stools could also be stacked by rotating them slightly each time.

“Despite several requests, I didn’t actually want to make this stool because it seemed too simple to me. But this woman was very insistent. It’s a good thing she was so determined because once it was finished, it turned out to be quite attractive and thought-out enough to be sold as a serious product. This stool has been almost continuously in production ever since” said Piet Hein Eek.
