Aurélie Hoegy is a French artist and formation designer who graduated from the prestigious Design Academy Netherland. Based in her Parisian atelier Hoegy marches often to travel, studying from Balinese masters in rattan or collaborating on projects in Mexico. She investigates the major themes of our time, from regenerative farming and the survival of craftsmanship to hybridity and the in between, or the imbuing of soul into otherwise inanimate furniture. The designer has mastered the ancestral tradition of working with rattan, but she considers the art of movement to be her true medium. Her work is about the relationship to the body, the object and space. In this essence, she references William Forsythe and Pina Bausch in her work and is interested in pushing the boundaries between functionality and sculpture. Aurélie’s work has been acquired in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH), Center Pompidou Paris, French national contemporary art collection (CNAP). In 2026, the Paris Musée des Arts décoratifs (Museum of Decorative Arts) acquired the tapestry Wild Fibers Swell.
