Studio Jelmerreus

Jelmer Reus is a Dutch designer whose practice centers on the exploration of linoleum as a material. Through ongoing research and experimentation, he questions its conventional use and reveals a broader potential within this natural material beyond its original application. By developing processes and materials such as Multylino – made from recycled linoleum waste – Reus allows form to emerge directly from the material’s inherent qualities. Aspects such as flexibility, layering and color become guiding elements in his work, shaping objects that could not exist in the same way with other materials. Driven by a desire to deeply understand and ultimately master linoleum, his practice moves between experimentation and craftsmanship. Each piece contributes to an expanding material language, where function and expression are held in balance.
