The Studio was founded in 1990 during the Vitra Summer Workshop led by Denis Santacharia. At that time Michal Froněk (1966) a Jan Němeček (1963) studied at Academy of Arts in Prague. Their first projects involved design of experimental seating and interior concepts. At the beginning the Studio’s creativity took on wide range of work from light-generating ready-made objects, glass vases, porcelain-made sets and titanium jewelry to architectural projects. Its designs stressed the use of technology and natural materials. Collaboration started with Zdeňek Lhotsky‘s Tavená plastika Glassworks in Pelechov that specializes in unique casting of large glass blocks. Later these designs were exhibited at a solo display at the Prague Castle under the title “Technology by Ornament“. Important stage of the Studio’s creativity was the furniture series made from plywood using computer driven cutting technology. This collection of desks and cabinets named Skoda was used by Paul Smith in his advertising campaign and exhibited in Europe and USA. In 1999, together with Eva Eisler and graphic design group Najbrt, Olgoj Chorchoj exhibited desks and dishes made out of carbon fibre laminate at the Radio House Gallery, New York. These are now housed in the New York Metropolitan Museum collection. From 2000 the Studio collaborates with Kavalier Glassworks producing a Look drinking glass vessel set and later a Twinwall series
