Croce martello
Wooden handle and bronze head meet to create an object with a dual nature. What is originally a traditional carpenter’s hammer takes on the appearance of a cross, combining the practicality of an everyday object with the symbolic function of the cross.
With the same tool it is possible to drive a nail into a wall, and then hang the cross/hammer onto a wall, ready in waiting for its next use.
Designed by Giulio Iacchetti
For this collection, a single type of wood from a single tree was used, a 5-meter tall antique maple tree in Turin, infested by woodworm, that as a result of natural disaster collapsed, and was subsequently reclaimed
